Brief: Create the brand that will be the LYIT Graduate Exhibition 2015. Reflect the content and character of the exhibition across a range of media and platforms – considering identity design, way-finding, motion based promos, posters, brochures and invitations. Engage, inform, inspire.
As design students we get feedback on a constant basis, either from lecturers or from clients (in relation to freelance work). So with this project I decided to take the feedback we get and put a comical spin on it, by highlighting some of the funny quotes that designers get from clients. The posters consist of the funny quotes, but highlighting one word within the quote itself. The visual style of these posters are mostly type based; since I am using quotes from designers. When choosing typefaces I wanted there to be a contrast between serif and san serif. I wanted the colour to stand out throughout my design, since colour is an important aspect to designers. Taking elements from the ‘you don’t say…’ logo I highlighted certain words I felt were important in the quote itself. The visual styling of the posters was the baseline for the other elements of my design. When designing the brochure, I wanted to keep the same quotes used on the range of posters so the audience would connect them easier. The use of the box from the posters, filtered into my design for the wayfinding as once again this would create a connection for the audience. Using the serif typeface for the text of the wayfinding connected it to the posters.
